Some little gems

First (and most excitingly) when I got home from work (first day back :-( :-( ) I found a little box waiting for me inside the front door. Of course this had to be opened straight away – especially as it had a German post mark on it. – inside was this:
– gorgeous, gorgeous hand-painted Kauni wool from Wollsucht – and of course the first thing I did was to pick it up and sniff it (please tell me I’m not the only one who sniffs yarn… ) – and it smelt wonderfully sweet – a little further investigation revealed why:
– thank you so much Uta- especially with your help with the order – I can’t wait to start knitting up the yarn – I’m thinking a lace scarf (for myself – selfish knitting is winning the day at the moment) – maybe the Field of Flowers scarf from here – or maybe something using the shooting star/frost flowers pattern (I’ve seen it given both names in different places) – but I’m not allowed to start it until I’ve finished these:

(start timing me Daisy – it’s now 7pm on Wed 4th Jan – how long will I hold out?) – But did you see, my very first socks! Heel is turned (not sure I like the heel that much, I really want to try a short rows heel, but there’s some yummy purple 4-ply Jaeger Matchmaker earmarked for that very purpose… )

And I just wanted to show you one of my favourite presents:
– Organic Chocolate foam bath and shower gel (YUM!!) and a deodorant crystal (which appears to work – although it’s not getting that much of a test in this weather! ) in a very pretty shell.

OK, well if you’re anything like me, you’ll hold out until approx 7.45pm on Wed 7th Jan! ;-)
I know what you mean about those sock heels too. All the ones I’ve done so far have had that heel – with limited time for presents I thought a pattern I was familiar with would be better. But I prefer the look of the short row heel. It’s my plan to have a go at that next once the Jaywalkers are finished!
Oh and I love your Kauni wool too (and what a nice surprise after your first day back at work)! Have never tried vanilla Rooibos tea, will have to try it, as I love the plain Rooibos.

Oooh, and let us know how you get on with the deodorant crystal! I’ve been eyeing them up as I seem to disagree with a lot of the brands, but haven’t actually come across anyone who was using a crystal one before (not that I’ve asked many people…;) ;-)
