Bedsock of doom...
Well, it can be kind of easy to forget that this is a knitting blog. But there has been knitting going on, I promise. The Sunrise Circle Jacket has got to the “I-hope-it-looks-as-good-in-real-life-as-it-does-in-my-head” stage and I’m also working on a secret project which may or may not work, and if it does I may or may not tout it round the usual suspects.
However, I am currently embroiled in
. I’m thinking that it’s more of a bedsock than a regular sock – DK is just a bit too thick to my way of thinking, but then my target is in Chicago, and it does get pretty cold there… Anyway, I’m clearly more brazen than Donni, I’m going to flash my sock.
So here it is, the Bedsock of Doom (bwahaha!) (bwahaha? mwahaha? Oh – you figure it out – scary laugh of some sort anyway).

And just because, here is a snail that tried to come in with the elderberries (yup, same bush as Friday Eye Candy below) I’ve picked to make syrup (it really can’t be that hard – elderberries, sugar, cloves… )

Love the sock, never tried to knit those. The snail is just like the one Conall rescued from the blackberries I picked from the garden. I usually drown everything in water to get rid of all such intruders before I cook/freeze things, but Conall has taken to ‘Animal Rescue’. Not such a bad thing, just don’t show me it! (Not that snails are a problem, it’s the ones with feet, and lots of them, that cause me a little angst…

‘Ang on a mo there Louise? Snails with feet???I’m developing a phobia with / of / about (???) / with regards to snails. Ugh. Yuck. Colliewobbles.

Ruth, snails have one big foot, I think… And I actually meant snails aren’t a problem for me, it’s the creatures with feet, (ie woodlouse, spiders etc) which cause a small problem, if you see what I mean. When I realise I’ve come that close to touching something ‘orrible.Oops! Sorry, nearly a hijack there. Sorry!

Yes, how rude
– fancy taking the comments so far off-topic – that snail is cute, get that, cute!Mind you, I rather like woodlice – did you know that as a species they pre-date the dinosaurs (I think – anyone who knows better is free to correct me) – and they’re water creatures – although they walk on land, they actually carry a film of water round with them so they can breathe!
But they’re not as cute as my snail.

Am I the only one who, upon reading Anne’s last comment, went back to re-visit the picture of the snail to assess its cuteness?Anyway, I see what you mean – I’d kind of missed it the first time – that really is amazing!
And woodlice!! Wow!!! I fear all things with more than 4 legs (plus the one-legged snail, and if that’s the only thing that has just one leg, then I can say I fear all things one-legged too). For some reason, though, woodlice are OK. I quite like them and I can pick them up with my bare hands and place them out of the path of danger (we find them on our living room floor from time to time).

OK. Just realised that the word you used in relation to the snail was ‘foot’, not ‘leg’. You are going to argue that it is ‘one-footed’ rather than ‘one-legged’. And I shall argue back that there must be something, however short, to join its foot to its body, and that must be a leg.Hey! Now this is my kind of debate! (I know, I’m technically holding it with myself, but hey….!!)

It depends, if said snail has recently visited a snail trap set with beer, it would be legless! David says no, that would be me…I have a sneaky suspicion that woodlice are crustacean, but I’m not sure, could be mollusc. I think my thing with them stems from finding Aedan eating one as a baby, crawling stage. Trouble was, woodlouse was still alive. Yum. Always said my offspring had a varied diet…
I don’t think I’m being contraversial enough to take part in a debate, back to my fence, bottle in hand!

Was is Aedan who was at the crawling stage, or the woodlouse?O.K.
I’ll get my coat.

I think your sock war socks are really cute :)Nic () (link) - 26 September '06 - 23:33
Aedan was at the crawling stage. Mind you, the woodlouse was too, until Aedan got his hands on it…Louise - 27 September '06 - 10:22
