A new day...
Three very good things today:
1) I’ve just bought a spinning wheel (see, we knew I wasn’t going to wait another 18 months, didn’t we?!) It’s a second hand Ashford Traveller from P & M Woolcraft. Martin took it apart and sent it off to me today. It should arrive on Monday, in time for me to put it back together and take it to Thriplow Spinners on Tuesday. If I really can’t get on with it (which seems unlikely) and if I get it back to him by 25 June, I can get my money back.
2) My prize from Diane arrived.

Very pretty BFL dyed by Fyberspates, 2 stitchmarkers and some silk hankies. So now I’m really hoping that spinning silk hankies is on Diane’s list of tutorials for her Sunday Spin-A-Long.
3) One of our clever clever chickens laid an egg
They certainly have impeccable timing – just as we really needed cheering up in the chicken-keeping department, they made it all worth while. ![]()
We don’t know who laid it, but it weighs 55g

Hi Anne,I have just found your page while searching google for information on WPI for different categories of yarn (do you know how many wraps per inch there are for double knitting, aran and baby weight yarn?). I am glad you enjoyed the use of my Joy. I was going to suggest P&M if I saw you next week as I know a couple of the Thriplow spinners have traded in their wheels to buy the new Victoria type of wheel.
I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday with your new wheel. I am feeling chuffed because I have finally plyed off the two bobbins of very fine merino/possum that I have been spinning so I can now get on with the alpaca.
All the best, El

Crumbs, so much good news in one post. Congratulations on winning the “crinkle yarn” prize. Nice job (nice prize too!)I’m sure you’ll get on fine with your traveller, Ro has one and she likes it I think. And and egg, there’s absolutely NOTHING to beat a home made egg (‘cept maybe a home made sock, and the chooks aren’t too good at that sorta thing are they?)
