Wednesday check in...
I did it
This time it was easier – probably because I’d read up about it – I did 5 min (oh, tedious, yes I know, but bear with me – I’m not going to do a step-by-step breakdown, I promise) – brisk walking warm up, then alternated 60 seconds running with 90 seconds walking.
I talked to my GP about it yesterday (I woke up realising that I’d acquired a job lot of things to talk about, so finally got round to making an appointment) – he checked my blood-pressure, listened to my heart, and cruelly told me that running was an excellent plan. Rats!
Not a lot else going on here… (which is worrying – I wanted to get fitter so I would feel more up for doing stuff – I run, spend at least as long stretching afterwards, and then want to curl up and do nothing… )
five comments:
Congrats on the running! It does get better, I promise. I started running again a few weeks ago and each ru it gets easier. Have you been running with any music? I find in the beginning it’s the ONLY thing that keeps me going… an ipod shuffle would be perfect because it’s so Teeny tiny, and cheap as ipod-y things go, but anything portable will work. Hey when I was a teenager I ran with a walkman cassette. It weighed about 5 lbs. How I wish they’d had ipods then!Kate () - 01 August '07 - 10:44
I can sense that running-bug nibbling…Louise () (link) - 01 August '07 - 12:44
I don’t know about running, but with intense cycling, I feel pretty tired after. It’s waking up the next day that I feel peppier – it helps over time, more than immediately.Chris () (link) - 01 August '07 - 17:23
Those cruel doctors. I’m not even going to suggest it to mine. It’s a wonder I walk a mile and a half a day for my cup of coffee.Carrie K () (link) - 03 August '07 - 00:46
Presumably at some point (hopefully soon!) you’ll get to a point where it feels invigorating rather than exhausting? It’s just getting to that point… (been there, done that, got back in my car!)Daisy () (link) - 03 August '07 - 19:12
